The department was established in the year 2008 and currently offers a four year B. The department admits around 60 students to B. The infrastructure economic modelling lab facilities are excellent and provides adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. Facilities are available for interdisciplinary research activities in ecomomic broad domain of signal processing, biomedical engineering, instrumentation, sensors, embedded economic modelling, robotics, control and automation.

The curriculum is updated regularly in tune with advancement in technology and its applications. The department is economic modelling involved in an MoU with National Instruments for the establishment of Centre of excellence at NIT Silchar. Knowledge and skills of faculties and staff are regularly updated through well economic modelling and executed development programs. They publish their works in reputed journals and also review and contribute contents for technical journals and books.

Trained in a broad-based discipline that has relevance across various industries, our graduates are well-positioned to solve crucial economic modelling issues and to improve the economic modelling conditions of the modern world - making things more efficient, optimal, sustainable and affordable.

These labs will be very useful for high quality laboratory experiments and research activities. The department is expected to have a strong link with industries. He was actively involved in the management of the department and its up-gradation including opening of PG and PhD programmes. Presently he is working as economic modelling Head of the Department. Teaching Interests econommic Instrumentation, Measurements, Sensors and Transducers, Virtual Rconomic, Advanced Modlling, Biomedical Instrumentation, Brain Computer Interfacing(BCI), Industrial Instrumentation, Data Acquisition, Economic modelling Sensors Signal Processing, economic modelling quality monitoring, Smart Grid Instrumentation, Smart Sensors, IoT applications and Intelligent Instrumentation.

Administrative Interests : He was Head during starting of the department and its bifurcation from Electrical Engg Dept in 2012 for more than three years.
